The Word

Did you know you might be a saint?

 I've felt this topic on my heart for a few hours now and know that my homework will not happen until I get this out. I'm rather ashamed that I've never done something of this sort before.

Anway, a few weeks ago, I had this conversation with Paul Nurkkala:

Paul Nurkkala: Thank you so much! You are a saint.
Ashley: Oh, I wouldn't go quite that far.
Ashley: but you are very welcome.
Paul Nurkkala: Re-writing from the beginning was enough trouble. Then figuring that.. yuck.
Paul Nurkkala: Heck yes I would!
Paul Nurkkala: (saint means christ-one)
Ashley: christ-one?
Paul Nurkkala: One who is in christ?
Paul Nurkkala: Christian?
Ashley: oh, gotcha
Ashley: I didn't get that from Christ-One.
Ashley: I've never thought of it that way.
Paul Nurkkala: Yeah! I prefer that to Christian, actually.
Ashley: really?
Ashley: why?
Paul Nurkkala: Christian is starting to become more of a culture than someone who believes in christ.
Ashley: very true.
Paul Nurkkala: So..
Paul Nurkkala: It makes it more of a lifestyle than a culture.
Paul Nurkkala: Okay.. If I want to .tar this..

Then we went back to code-talk that I don't think any of you want to read about ; ] It's super cool though! Anyway.

The important word to discuss here is "saint".

I learned a lesson from God. Thinking that I am a Saint is an interesting perspective on myself. When you get a new perspective on yourself, everything changes. Example: you believe that you can't shoot the goal, then you probably can't. Then something happens, you believe you can shoot the goal, and eventually you do. Many of us have learned that.

So, what happens when I truly believe that I am a Saint? I don't know yet; I'm figuring that out still. I'm still somewhat in shock mode. (I know Paul, this conversation was awhile ago, but the meaning of it didn't truly hit me until awhile later, go ahead and call me slow, I know you're laughing).

This was again brought to my attention at WinterJam 2010. If you didn't go, you missed out. There was a relatively new band called Revive that was one of the opening acts. Quickly I learned the chorus to their first song "Chorus of the Saints". Again that Saint word! The song, or rather, the chorus, got stuck in my head for at least a week before I caved in and bought the album. Zeroing in on that song, I finally learned the rest of the words.

Then I learned a second lesson. Not only am I a Saint, but my continual thoughts and praise should go to God. Why? The reason I am a Saint is because of Jesus Christ, who died for me. That's it.

      I'm not sure how to describe myself. It's a hard task. Ironic, considering that I am me. So, I've come up with a few things that you must be aware of. You must be aware that I am a Christian. I love God, with my whole heart. This is my core, my essence. You also must be aware that I am a geek. I honestly love school, learning, thinking, solving problems, and getting homework done. Most of the time. Another thing to be aware of is that I am a comp sci-new media/systems major and Jesus is my knight in shining armor who helps me slay my dragons in the dungeon. =] The dungeon is where I hang out a lot of the time. The last thing to be aware of is that I love my family, friends, and cat, very much. I lied. The real last thing to be aware of is God's love for you, whether you know it or not.
